Holiday Ornaments

I have a credit at a local bead shop that is about 4 months old. I had tried to use it for classes, but they kept getting cancelled as not enough people had signed up. In order to fulfill a creative itch and calm the fears of the wallet, I decided to use the credit for product instead. Good for my wallet and good for the local shop that got to keep the money and not have to refund it.

Seventy Five bucks is a chunk of change when you do not have a specific plan. I arrived at the store and wandered around trying to decide what goodies I should take home. I arrived at the metal working section and an idea began to take form. I should make an enameled holiday ornament for the company Holiday Tree! But the entire logo or just part? I ran through the mental list of colors I knew I had on hand and decided I needed more enamels, just in case. I picked out 2 blues and 2 grays and an cool looking green just for giggles. I had a bit more of my credit left so I splurged and purchased 3 ft of sterling silver half-round wire for some random project in my future. I know I saw a cool project somewhere that will require it! Besides, I managed to finally use up the wayward credit.

No, I did not rush home to my bench. I took my time getting back, and shopped for dinner. I did not hit my bench until 9pm last night. Why? It took me that long to decide to do only one element from the logo. I still may do whe whole thing, eventually.

Below is the logo and then the ornament. Not great pics, but you get the idea.

End of the year ramblings..

It is THAT time of year. Most folks are running around like industrious little solider ants, getting their holiday shopping done. Yes, I said Holiday and not Christmas. There is more than one holiday that happens in December. This year we have Ashura which was on the 5th,  Hanukkah which starts on the 21st, The Calendar Yule which is also the 21st, as well as Boxing Day and Kwanzaa on the 26th.

I do not poo poo on your holiday, I just chose not to celebrate it. Why is not important, your respect of my choice is. Trying to force me to say Merry Christmas will just piss me off. That is you attempting to shove your beliefs down my throat. It is rude.

Before you judge me as Ebeneezer Scrooge (it’s ok if you did). I went and shopped for Christmas presents for my friends that celebrate that holiday. That does not mean I accept their beliefs, but I honor them. I do not have any close Jewish friends, or I would have done the same. My Pagan friends, well they have their own way of doing things.

Honestly, I give gifts all year long. I do not wait until “One Special Day” to hand them out. Nor do I lie and say they are from some mythical elf. This year was a tough one. It just happened that my availability of a little extra cash and the December Holiday Season occurred at the same time.

So Now I am off to do Silver Ravenwolfs’ challenge for today. I am not sure I can keep this up for thirty days…

More bits and pieces

I decided to try a leaf shape this round. I do not have the exact tools I need for Foldforming, but I will get them one at a time.  The leaf is 1.5″ long and 1″ wide
