Trying something different

I have a cloisonne class that I am teaching in July. Would have been June, but the calendar was so full already. I decide on a super basic design, which is a modification of an infinity symbol. Random colors in a random order so I could be sure I could do it and explain the steps. Not pretty, but I can do it.

The pic below are fired color samples and the infinity test sample before filling with color enamels.

Just the pics

To serve as an impetus to getting creative again, I am posting some of the results of past projects…

Silk Dye

OK, so I feel a smidge less guilty. This is my first attempt at dying silk. I used a jacquard dye and cooked it in the microwave! Eventually I 20140529_223839[1]will be able to afford a steamer for this sort of stuff.

HOLY COW!!!!!!!!

It has been almost 2 years since I have posted anything. I am such a slacker. OK, I let life get in the way.

This also tells me that I have let my art not just take a back seat, but I packed it up and put it in storage. Time to unpack!

New work

Lots of new work to be done. I just need to find the energy.

To give me inspiration, I asked for a proper bench to do my metal work and dyeing art. Below is the result. Not finished yet, but it will get there eventually.

Next technique

For those who do not know, reticulation is the art of heating silver until the surface becomes liquid and cooling it with the pattern of the liquid intact. Here are 2 bits from my bench. I will work on better pics at some point.
